Ahmad Jan Khattak, PhD

Founder & Principal Consultant
Human & Artificial Intelligence Consultants, LLC

Dr. Ahmad Jan Khattak is a computational hydrologist specializing in hydrological modeling across multiple spatial and temporal scales. His expertise spans the full vertical range of hydrologic processes—from canopy and surface exchanges to deep subsurface and groundwater systems.

Dr. Khattak has extensive experience developing, evaluating, calibrating, and validating models for hydrologic analysis and forecasting using field, laboratory, and remote sensing data. His work has focused on operational hydrological forecasting, watershed and stormwater management, groundwater dynamics, cold-region hydrology, hydrobiogeochemical modeling of streams and river networks, and carbon storage.

He has led and contributed to the development and implementation of advanced hydrologic modeling systems, including leadership roles supporting the NOAA National Water Model (NWM) v4 implementation and associated calibration, validation, and quality assurance efforts. Dr. Khattak brings experience from national laboratories and applied research organizations, integrating scientific rigor with operational and decision-focused modeling.

As Founder and Principal Consultant of Human & Artificial Intelligence Consultants, LLC, Dr. Khattak applies this experience to deliver rigorous, collaborative, and AI-enabled solutions that support better decision-making in water resources, forecasting, and climate resilience.
